♥ Make your Mom feel Loved on Mother’s Day ~ May 9th ♥
What have you done for your MOM lately? Remember Mothers Day is coming up fast. It’s the month to spoil all mothers and I wanted to focus on how much our moms and grandmothers do to enhance our lives. I work with hundreds of single mothers and married women with kids in my love consulting business that often feel somewhat disappointed on Mother’s Day. Not only do I hear what women want from the men in their lives, but also what they want their kids to know. Motherhood can be very challenging. Moms are often preoccupied with work and household duties, as well as taking care of children, husbands, and oftentimes aging parents, and it’s difficult for them to find time to take care of themselves, have some fun and create balance.
My family lost our sweet Mom Angela 18 years ago on Mothers Day weekend.
It was a sudden and tragic loss.
I would give anything to celebrate with her that day or any day! She was an angel and I’m so grateful for her love in my life. She helped me to slow down to find my extraordinary husband due to her passing. Read our cool love story on the site
I invite you to spoil your Mom while she is here and not “someday”!
Someday is NEVER!
Check out my Mother…Isn’t she beautiful?
So get moving and open your heart to spoil your Mom!
There are moms, stepmoms, grandmoms and single moms, and each have their work cut out for them. Most moms feel under appreciated for all they do and most of us (especially if we aren’t a parent) don’t know all the jobs moms handle. The job of mothering never ends, even after the kids move away for college or out on their own. Time flies by so quickly and often kids never realize all the special and daily tedious tasks that moms perform. Recently on Good Morning America, there was a report that if mothers were to be paid for all they do, they would be making a six-figure income.
Here is a list of just the basic tasks mothers do to keep us happy:
- Grocery shopping, cooking, packing lunches, clearing and washing dishes, washing clothes, folding clothes and distribution to the right location, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, picking up after everyone, buying clothing for school, helping with homework and special school projects, driving to and from school, teachers meetings, attending after school activities (dancing, sporting events, theater productions, school presentations), shopping for all the things needed for fun, learning and events like prom, dropping off and picking up from weekend activities, vacation planning and expenses, packing bags for trips, planning birthdays and holidays, attending graduations and school events, listening, nursing, hugging, college selecting and often paying for college, wedding planning and paying for wedding expenses (whether you are a bride or groom), babysitting grandkids and special grand mom weekends. Whew! I’m tired just writing this list!
Now let’s face it, not all moms or grandmothers can do all of these tasks, yet they all deserve acknowledgment for the contributions to our lives. Few moms are perfect and we must look at their good qualities on this special holiday. Remember, mothers, are people with challenges, imperfections, and needs of their own. Don’t we all want to be appreciated and acknowledged? YES!
What can you easily do to make your mom feel special and appreciated this Mother’s Day and all year long?
- Send or make a card or write a poem with thoughts from your heart
(hand written on beautiful paper). My mom saved every Mother’s Day card we ever made her. - Don’t have money for a gift? Give the gift of your time! Offer to do errands and things for her around the house so she can have a break (paint her bathroom, clean out her messy garage, take her old clutter to Goodwill). She needs a break!
- Make a date for brunch at a warm special place with a garden setting with the family. Pick her up and make her feel like the “Queen for the day.” (If you live far away plan this when you go visit)
- Invite her over for a special Mother’s Day dinner and make her favorite dishes and talk about your favorite memories..
- Buy her something she would never buy herself, like a new shawl, a new spring handbag, or a new silk robe or pajamas to lounge in. Gift certificates are good, but not as special.
- Get her a new phone and set up all the most important phone #’s that she needs for her family, friends, and for emergencies.
- Teach her how to take photos, send texts.
- Set up her Facebook and add your family and friends for her.
- Pamper her with a massage, facial or manicure gift certificate to a salon close to her (you can send it to her from anywhere in the world…no excuses!)
- Get her a personal assistant Alexa online at Amazon in all price ranges. Then she can get info and hear her favorite musical artists and tune un to all the oldies she likes.
- Most moms would appreciate just being acknowledged with a special phone call and a warm “thank you!”. They may not ask you for these things, but most secretly wish you would do them. So get creative. She has sacrificed a lot for you! Have a Happy Mother’s Day all you moms out there!
